George specialises in commercial law and has extensive domestic and international legal experience. Before joining the firm George was a lawyer at Bell Gully and then Clifford Chance in London. He also spent a number of years with The Bank of New York Mellon as Chief International Corporate Counsel and a Managing Director. George has advised on a number of landmark mergers and acquisitions, including the sale of TransAlta’s NZ interests to NGC, GKN plc’s demerger and dual UK / Australia listing with Brambles Industries, and a worldwide post Enron and Andersen restructuring for Deloitte. George advises both corporate and private clients on a wide range of commercial matters, including business purchases and sales, New Zealand property, farm and business succession, trusts and estate planning. George has a rural Canterbury background. He has served as an Advisory Board member for KEA, he currently serves on the Medbury School Foundation management board, and is a Vice Patron of Mistletoe Bay, Queen Charlotte Sound. George has completed executive education at the London School of Economics Executive Summer School. He is a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand and has been admitted as a Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales.
