George’s practice focuses on property, commercial, trust and corporate advisory matters. He has extensive domestic and international legal experience, and earlier in his career George was a lawyer at Bell Gully and then Clifford Chance in London. He was previously the Chief International Corporate Counsel and a Managing Director at The Bank of New York Mellon. George has advised on a number of landmark transactions, including the sale of TransAlta’s NZ interests to NGC, GKN plc’s demerger and dual UK / Australia listing with Brambles Industries, and a worldwide corporate restructuring for Deloitte. He has served as an Advisory Board member for KEA in the UK, he is Chairman of the Medbury School Foundation, and is a Vice Patron of Mistletoe Bay, Queen Charlotte Sound. George has completed executive education at the London School of Economics Summer School, he has been admitted as a Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales, and he is a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand.
